Job Description: An Electrical Site Manager for High Voltage (HV) Substations to oversee the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of HV substation projects. His role ensures the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of work according to project specifications and standards.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Manage and oversee all on-site activities related to HV substation construction and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and technical standards.
- Monitor progress and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks with site teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and codes.
- Coordinate the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.
- Liaise with engineers, consultants, and suppliers to ensure quality and technical compliance.
- Lead and supervise site teams, including contractors, technicians, and laborers.
- Schedule and assign tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
- Provide training and guidance to site personnel as required.
- Serve as the point of contact between the site and project managers, engineers, and clients.
- Prepare and present progress reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly updates.
- Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with project outcomes.
- Maintain detailed project records, including site logs, drawings, and testing reports.
- Ensure all work complies with national and international electrical standards, such as IEC or IEEE.
- Facilitate inspections and approvals from regulatory authorities.
- Conduct regular quality checks on materials and workmanship.
- Ensure all equipment is installed, tested, and commissioned to meet operational standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing HV substation projects, typically 5+ years.
- Strong knowledge of HV equipment, systems, and layouts.
- Familiarity with protective relays, SCADA systems, and power distribution.
- Understanding of HSE standards and electrical codes (e.g., NFPA, IEC, NEC).
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate site operations effectively.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Valid certifications for working in HV environments (if required, e.g., safety permits).
