Electrical Inspector

Job Description

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Responsible for setting own project deadlines.
• Provides on-the-job training to new employees.
• Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
• Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
• Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
• Tracks quality assurance progress.
• Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
• Has knowledge of Abu Dhabi Authorities and Standards.
• Preferred Experience on Dry Utilities like MV, LV, HV, Sub Stations, Cabling, MCC, Telecom Networks, Traffic Networks, Street Lighting With Authorities like ADDC, TRANSCO, ITC, MCC, Etisalat.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification :

• High school/Technical Institute Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering field (Electrical, etc.).

Experience:

• The ideal candidate to be a Civil Engineering graduate with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar works or a Technical Institute Diploma in a related field with a minimum of 12+ years’ experience in similar works or a High School or equivalent institute graduate with a minimum of 14+ years’ experience in similar works.
• Experience in Street lighting / 11 & 132 KV / Infra works.
• Mentoring Junior Inspectors: Providing guidance and training to less experienced inspectors or contractors on electrical systems, safety practices, and code compliance.
• Education and Awareness: Conducting or attending workshops to stay updated on electrical inspection best practices, new technologies, and evolving codes.

1. Inspection of Electrical Installations

• On-Site Inspections: Conducting on-site inspections of electrical installations, including wiring, outlets, panels, switches, and lighting systems, to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations (such as the National Electrical Code or local regulations).
• Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all electrical systems are installed according to safety standards, local electrical codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Quality Assurance: Inspecting the quality of electrical work and ensuring that all installations and repairs meet the required specifications.

2. Testing and Troubleshooting

• System Testing: Performing tests on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely. This can include checking for voltage, grounding, resistance, and continuity.
• Troubleshooting: Identifying any electrical faults or deficiencies in the installation or operation of electrical systems, diagnosing the problem, and recommending appropriate corrective actions.

3. Code Compliance

• Knowledge of Electrical Codes: Staying updated on electrical codes, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC standards, or local building codes, and applying these regulations to all inspections.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that electrical systems meet legal and regulatory requirements, including fire safety, energy efficiency, and environmental considerations.
• Documentation: Reviewing electrical permits, plans, and designs for compliance with code requirements and documenting inspection results.

4. Reporting and Documentation

• Inspection Reports: Preparing detailed inspection reports that document the findings of electrical inspections, including any violations or deficiencies and the corrective actions required.
• Deficiency Notices: Issuing notices or reports for non-compliant or unsafe electrical work, and following up to ensure necessary corrective measures are taken.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining records of inspections, testing, and compliance reports for future reference and audits.
