Job description

John R Harris & Partners-Dubai is looking for a self-driven, results-oriented, Electrical Engineer for design and construction supervision of Residential, Commercial and Technical buildings. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement electrical systems for Residential, Commercial and Mission critical facilities, including medium and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems.
  2. Develop and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials and installation drawings.
  3. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  4. Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to develop specifications, design criteria, and project budgets.
  5. Analyse electrical systems to identify and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization.
  6. Review Contractors Electrical Shop Drawings for their technical compliance and design intent has been understood and implemented in accordance with local laws, rules and regulations.
  7. Carry out technical reviews of Material submittals to determine that the products, equipment and plant are technically acceptable and in accordance with local authority approvals.
  8. Carry out Inspections as per the Inspection Requests prepared by the Contractor during various Clearance Stages.
  9. Monitor site works to ensure activities are in line with the Specifications / approved Method Statements and Engineering Practices and raise Non-Conformance Reports, where required.
  10. Respond to Contractors Design related RFIs.
  11. Review / approve Commissioning / Testing / Balancing Procedures for Compliance with Specifications. Witness / oversee on-site Commissioning of Major Equipment / Systems / Installations.
  12. Review of O&M Manuals and As-Built Drawings.
  13. Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  14. Stay up to date with advancements in electrical engineering and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree in electrical engineering. 5-10 years works experience in ME region. Preferred candidate to have worked in leading MEP Consultancies.
  2. Preference will be given to those who have Mission critical facility Design and Construction experience.
  3. Familiarity with Local codes and regulations of DEWA/SEWA/FEWA/ADDC and Civil Defence.
  4. Strong knowledge of electrical design, power distribution systems, and backup power systems.
  5. Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Understanding of international code requirements.
  8. Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
