Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Resident Engineer or MEP Lead in performing the contractual duties on site.
2. Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinate application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
3. Advise the project manager of any technical aspects of the electrical services that may affect construction progress, quality, and the like.
4. Continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works.
5. Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
6. Review Contractor's installation method statements.
7. Review Contractor's shop drawings against the design (tender) drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments/approval.
8. Review contractor's electrical shop drawings in conjunction with the structural and mechanical engineers to ensure engineering coordination and advise project manager accordingly.
9. Review Contractor's electrical services material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
10. Review Contractor's proposed subcontractors associated with the electrical engineering works from a technical standpoint.
11. Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
12. Undertake general project site observation/inspection of the electrical services works for Contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specifications, good working practices, the construction schedule, and health & safety.
13. Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
14. Undertake prior review of Contractor's proposed electrical system testing & commissioning methods and schedule.
15. Witness on-site piped system pressure tests, air conditioning duct leakage testing, and other testing that may be required during the first fix works and advise the Project Manager accordingly.
16. On a spot basis, witness electrical system final testing and commissioning.
17. Review and comment on Contractor's testing and commissioning results and advise Project Manager accordingly.
18. Prepare an ongoing list of electrical services defects for contractor's remedial action.
19. Undertake final project snagging and prepare a list of defects for Contractor's action.
20. Attend project, site progress, and any electrical services-related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
21. Prepare draft site/engineer's instructions relating to the building electrical services, as required, and issue to the Project Manager.
22. Provide advice to the Project Manager regarding any electrical services-related variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
23. Review and comment upon Contractors Operation and Maintenance manuals.
24. Oversee junior engineers and inspectors for all electrical work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
25. Follow up with the contractor and support in coordinating with the utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
