Principal Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is presently looking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer to be based at our Abu Dhabi Engineering Centre. Below are more details about the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To lead the team of Engineers and Designers
2. To participate in project scheduling and project review activities
3. Provide engineering input during all design phases, including interpretation and challenge of standards
4. Carry out calculations & studies required to finalize electrical equipment specifications
5. Prepare requisitions and technical evaluation of bids for discipline material and equipment procurement
6. Review vendor's document to ensure equipment vendors provide timely and quality input into design packages
7. Preparation of design documents which includes SLDs, Protection & Control schematics and layout drawings
8. Ensure design packages meet the relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic standards
9. Actively communicate with other disciplines to optimize areas of interface, during the design development, review and check processes
10. Support design/drawing office personnel with specialist engineering input
11. Review all third party discipline design work
12. Understand the contract quality management system and ensure these requirements are met
13. Participate in and sometimes lead, discipline design reviews

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline
2. Overall 15+ years of experience, out of which 5-8 years must be in the Oil and Gas sector
3. Fully coherent in all international codes and standards.
4. Excellent command of both spoken and written English is required
5. Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn / Flexible with a can-do attitude
