The role?

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing engineering activities related to the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of offshore cranes. The role involves close collaboration with Senior Project Engineers, clients, technical teams, and field staff to ensure project objectives are met within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

Project Planning and Execution:

  1. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedules, and resource allocation, for offshore crane major maintenance and servicing.
  2. Coordinate with Senior Project Engineers and Clients to define project requirements and deliverables.
  3. Oversee the execution of major maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities, ensuring alignment with industry standards and company procedures.
  4. Provide support to Senior Project Engineer and Contract Representative / Company Lifting Team.
  5. Prepare Implementation Work Packs, including risk assessments, procedures, and implementation project plans.
  6. Be the focal point for major maintenance, coordination, report writing, troubleshooting, etc.
  7. Coordinate and manage procurement and inspections/tests at subcontractor’s facilities for onshore refurbishments.
  8. Prepare closeout reports and inspection reports for all onshore refurbishments 2 weeks after works completion.
  9. Compile and prepare closeout and inspection reports for all offshore and onshore refurbishment scopes.
  10. Ensure that all maintenance and technical documentation is completed correctly, prepare regular work reports and specific technical reports when required, and maintain records of all maintenance activities for easy access to any internal and external auditors and surveyors.
  11. Prepare lifting plans, method statements, detailed drawings, and procedures for component installation, removal, etc.
  12. Prepare risk assessments for complicated and complex lifting plans and procedures, method statements.
  13. Be available 24/7 for critical activities when delegated to cover the Senior Project Engineer role.

Technical Support:

  1. Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, repair methodologies, and upgrades of offshore cranes and associated equipment.
  2. Review engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documents related to project work.
  3. Ensure proper implementation of technical solutions during maintenance and repair operations.

Team Coordination:

  1. Collaborate with field teams, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  2. Monitor progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders, including management and clients.
  3. Support the development and training of on-site personnel as needed.

Cost and Quality Control:

  1. Monitor project budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  2. Maintain high standards of quality assurance for all maintenance and repair tasks.
  3. Identify and resolve technical and operational issues promptly to minimize project delays.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including work packs, progress reports, job cards, maintenance logs, and closeout reports.
  2. Ensure accurate records are kept for future reference and compliance purposes.

Recognized Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  1. Education: Hold as a minimum a 3 Years’ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
  2. Shall have LEEA-UK qualifications “Entry Exam” and 4-day Appointed Person (Supervisor) course by client-approved Training Center.
  3. Have relevant oil & gas offshore and onshore lifting-related experience of not less than 5 years in the same area of application.
  4. Be able to write lifting plans, create, review and revise lifting operation plan/procedures (LOP), and risk assessments for all lifting operation categories (routine, simple, complicated & complex lift), supervise and execute critical lifting.
  5. Be able to design and prepare drawings for all types of lifting plans categories and procedures in line with Company standards and requirements.
  6. Operational use and awareness of Lifting Equipment Regulations, and all relevant client Codes/Standards for Inspection and Certification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  2. Certifications in offshore safety training, such as BOSIET, FOET & Offshore medical.
  3. Experience with digital tools for asset management and predictive maintenance.
