Resident Engineer - Mechanical (Water Infrastructure)

Description:

Stantec Abu Dhabi is currently seeking a Resident Engineer with a mechanical background on a construction supervision project for TRANSCO involving water pipelines and water Pumping Stations.

The Resident Engineer will be required to:

1. Lead and supervise a team of Engineers (Inspectors) and contractors within the contract period.
2. Implement methods for dispute avoidance and resolution study.
3. Demonstrate proactive acumen and an ability to manage multiple sites.
4. Review contractor technical submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
5. Respond to client/contractor queries and provide technical inputs related to mechanical discipline as needed.
6. Effectively evaluate technical proposals and their constructability, technology deployment, and solving technical site problems that may arise during construction.
7. Evaluate and monitor the progress of the Works in accordance with the submitted Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) along with the Cost Breakdown Structure and Resources Breakdown Structure.
8. Oversee all environmental protection aspects of the construction and operation of similar size sewerage projects.
9. Ensure Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.
10. Review and justify the material submissions, analyze laboratory and technical reports, carry out acceptance sampling plans, testing and quality measures, ensuring compliance with the project’s specifications.
11. Prepare QC forms and checklists, comply with Project QA/QC plans, and write clear, brief, and accurate technical reports.
12. Prepare construction project monthly valuation.
13. Review project progress against the baseline program and provide updates to the project planner/quantity surveyor as required.
14. Participate in assessing and evaluating Contractor’s Claims.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
2. 15+ years of work experience ideally with an engineering consultancy.
3. Experience working on water infrastructure projects, including water pumping systems, piping and pipelines systems, tanks, HVAC, firefighting, and hypo chlorination systems.
4. Developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with multicultural teams.
5. Ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual and team member to resolve complex faults on critical equipment.
6. Ability to prepare and present technical and non-technical documentation.
7. Proven ability to perform in a key technical leadership role, good written and oral communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
8. Previous experience with consultancy firms holding the same Resident Engineer role.
