Job Purpose
Provide specialized care, support, and therapeutic interventions to enhance the communication and swallowing abilities of patients, ultimately improving their quality of life and participation in daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments: Administer standardized and/or created referenced tools to better understand strengths and weaknesses of clients in the areas of speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
- Set language-based diagnosis or work closely with the MDT to identify the underlying condition.
- Develop individualized treatment plans: Based on assessment results, create personalized therapy plans tailored to the unique needs and goals of each client.
- Write thorough reports, intervention plans, and progress summaries.
- Implement therapeutic interventions: Utilize evidence-based techniques and therapies to improve clients' communication skills in the areas of speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
- Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate speech therapy sessions: conduct one-on-one or group therapy sessions with clients. Sessions can be based in the clinic or at the school/nursery.
- Participate actively in MDT meetings to discuss cases and align treatment plans with the team.
- Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams: work closely with physicians, educators, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
- Monitor, progress, and adjust treatment: regularly assess clients' progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Educate clients and caregivers: provide clients and their families with strategies and techniques to support communication development and carry over therapy goals at home and in other environments.
- Maintain accurate records: keep detailed records of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and client communication to ensure effective continuity of care while considering the clinic and the Healthcare regulator’s requirements.
- Stay current with research and best practices: continuously update knowledge of the latest advancements and best practices in the field of speech and language therapy to deliver evidence-based interventions.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards: uphold ethical guidelines, confidentiality standards, and professional conduct in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Engage in providing training opportunities for parents and other professionals upon need.
Knowledge / Education / Skills
- 2 years’ Speech and Language Therapist experience;
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited university;
- A current relevant license/registration to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers; Arabic & English;
- Empathy and patience in working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds;
- Knowledge of various speech and language disorders, standardized assessment tools, and therapeutic techniques;
- Good computer proficiency (e.g., MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook);

Shared responsibility for the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, data, and information. Ensuring good quality documentation, which meets the organizational requirements, regulatory guidelines, and statutory requirements.
Communication & Interaction
Communications will regularly require some judgement involving the seeking and gathering of information with the need for some explanation. May have interactions which contain distressing information.
Safeguarding
All colleagues have a responsibility to protect and safeguard vulnerable individuals at risk (whether children or adults). Colleagues must be aware of local child and adult protection procedures and who to contact within the Local Authority Safeguarding team for further advice. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding awareness training and to undertake additional training appropriate to their role.
