About Energetech

Energetech is a leading energy trading firm that is expanding into LNG-to-power project development to provide reliable, scalable, and cleaner energy solutions across East Africa. Our expertise in energy markets, logistics, and supply chain management enables us to develop and deliver power solutions that are cost-effective, commercially viable, and tailored to real market needs.

Unlike traditional EPC firms, our approach is market-driven and flexible—ensuring that our LNG-to-power projects are structured to align with energy demand, financial feasibility, and operational efficiency. By leveraging small-scale LNG, containerized storage, modular regasification, and distributed power generation, we are creating scalable energy solutions that unlock industrial growth and energy security in emerging markets.

As we expand, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager – LNG & Power Generation to lead the execution of our power projects, ensuring successful delivery from concept to operation. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, high-impact team, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of decentralized power solutions in the region.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior-level project manager with expertise in gas-fired power generation and a track record of delivering power projects in dynamic, fast-moving environments. If you have experience in temporary, modular, or distributed power solutions, understand gas engines, turbines, and regasification technologies, and want to be part of an agile, commercially focused energy company, this role is for you.

As a key leader within Energetech’s project development team, you will be responsible for managing the execution of LNG-to-power projects, integrating gas and power generation technologies, and ensuring seamless project delivery. You will work closely with commercial teams, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure each project is structured for financial and operational success.

This role requires a hands-on project leader who can balance technical execution, commercial structuring, and stakeholder management, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of performance.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of LNG-to-power projects, ensuring seamless integration of LNG supply, storage, regasification, and gas-to-power technologies.
  • Oversee project planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Ensure projects are structured for scalability, efficiency, and financial sustainability, optimizing CAPEX, OPEX, and long-term reliability.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and market demand.
  • Work closely with internal trading and commercial teams to structure projects around fuel supply availability, cost efficiency, and power offtake requirements.

Technical Integration & System Optimization

  • Ensure the proper selection, sizing, and integration of gas-fired power generation assets, including reciprocating engines, gas turbines, and regasification systems.
  • Support the development of operations and maintenance (O&M) strategies to ensure long-term system reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate and mitigate technical and operational risks, ensuring that LNG-to-power solutions are optimized for local market conditions and infrastructure constraints.
  • Provide technical leadership on fuel handling, combustion processes, emissions control, and efficiency optimization.

Stakeholder & Partnership Management

  • Engage with industrial off-takers, utilities, and regulatory agencies to structure projects that align with local energy needs and compliance requirements.
  • Manage relationships with EPC firms, OEMs, technology providers, and service partners, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Work closely with government agencies and regulatory bodies to navigate permitting, approvals, and environmental compliance for LNG and power generation projects.
  • Support internal teams in negotiating contracts for fuel supply, equipment procurement, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Financial & Feasibility Oversight

  • Conduct technical and economic feasibility studies, providing data-driven recommendations on project viability, design, and implementation strategies.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring effective cost control, financial forecasting, and investment analysis.
  • Lead CAPEX and OPEX modeling, ensuring that each project is structured for long-term commercial sustainability.
  • Identify and manage potential financial risks, optimizing projects for cost efficiency and return on investment.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure that all projects meet local and international safety, regulatory, and environmental standards for LNG handling and gas-to-power generation.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for technical, financial, and operational uncertainties, ensuring project resilience.
  • Monitor and manage regulatory and environmental compliance, ensuring that all permits, licenses, and approvals are secured in a timely manner.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide regular updates on project progress, performance analysis, and post-implementation insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement best practices in project management, operational efficiency, and commercial structuring to optimize future project execution.

Who You Are

  • Strong technical knowledge of gas-fired power generation, including reciprocating engines, gas turbines, regasification units, and fuel handling systems.
  • Proven track record in delivering energy infrastructure projects, preferably in modular, temporary, or distributed power generation solutions.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, commercially focused environments, with the ability to balance technical execution with financial and operational constraints.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and structure commercially viable power projects.
  • Experience in financial modeling, CAPEX/OPEX analysis, and project structuring for energy assets.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for LNG and gas-to-power projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a solutions-oriented approach to overcoming project challenges.
  • Familiarity with East African energy markets and infrastructure constraints is an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in gas-fired power generation, temporary power solutions, or energy infrastructure development.
  • Experience working with EPC firms, OEMs, and energy service providers.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
  • Prior experience with distributed power generation or industrial-scale gas-to-power projects is highly desirable.

Why Join Energetech?

  • Be part of a high-growth, entrepreneurial energy company, where you can shape a new business vertical and take ownership of impactful projects.
  • Work in a commercially agile environment, developing scalable, market-driven energy solutions that make a real difference.
  • Lead projects across East Africa, bringing cleaner, more flexible power solutions to industries and communities.
  • Avoid bureaucracy—work in a fast-moving, results-driven organization that values innovation and execution.
