Job description

The Credit Operations Officer is responsible for evaluating credit applications, conducting risk assessments, and making informed decisions regarding creditworthiness. This job is involved in ensuring the company's lending practices are aligned with established policies and regulations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assess credit applications, analyse financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to determine the creditworthiness of applicants within established guidelines.
  2. Conduct thorough risk assessments by evaluating industry trends, market conditions, collateral value, and borrower's credit history to minimise credit risks and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  3. Make informed decisions regarding credit approvals, loan structures, interest rates, and repayment terms based on the credit analysis and risk assessment.
  4. Monitor and manage the credit portfolio by reviewing existing credit facilities, identifying potential risks, and recommending appropriate actions to mitigate risk exposure.
  5. Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory guidelines throughout the credit approval process.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and collections, to gather necessary information, resolve credit-related issues, and ensure smooth and efficient credit operations.
  7. Establish and maintain effective relationships with dealers, vendors, customers, and other external stakeholders to enhance business opportunities and gather relevant market intelligence.
  8. Prepare accurate and timely credit reports, memos, and documentation to support credit decisions and maintain appropriate records for audit purposes.
  9. Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes related to automotive leasing and finance, and propose process improvements to enhance credit operations efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and maintaining positive relationships with clients throughout the credit process.
  11. Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
  12. Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  2. Proven experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or underwriting.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  2. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Credit Professional) are a plus.
