Job Description

Provide independent psychological assessment and intervention within areas of specialization.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of the role Corresponding Key Activities performed by the role

Managerial
  1. Ensuring and participating in providing coverage to the various service areas or populations and settings.
  2. Collaborating with senior clinical psychologists in the provision of consultative services internally and externally.

Technical
  1. Providing highly specialist one-to-one clinical psychological consultations within areas of specialization.
  2. Providing psychological interventions for individuals, families, and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  3. Coordinating the assessment and formulation of risk management plans for clients within their case load and contributing to the formulation of risk management plans for other clients within the service.
  4. Participating in decision making for and evaluating treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.
  5. Promoting high quality psychological services to patients and carers, via direct clinical work and indirectly by collaboration with other team members.
  6. Providing psychological services (as an autonomous/independent practitioner) to service-users, carers, and team colleagues.
  7. Providing advice to multi-disciplinary teams on the psychological aspects of the needs assessment and care planning process.
  8. Developing psychosocial formulations for those service-users with the most highly complex problems so as to inform and guide intervention strategies.
  9. Exercising professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and/or referral of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based intervention plans.
  10. Providing casework for people experiencing severe psychological difficulties. To prioritize workload to ensure that skills are used to address the more severe and complex psychological presentations within this area of work.

Quality & Safety
  1. Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and procedures.
  2. Complying with all safety, health and quality control programs and procedures as applicable.
  3. Complying with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection.
  4. Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
  5. Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures.
  6. Ensuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections.
  7. Being responsible for documenting all intervention in appropriate format.
  8. Comply and support clinical audit processes within the service and report on these as agreed.
  9. Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family, and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate status.
  10. Interacting courteously with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers when answering questions or providing other information.

Education
  1. Participating in training and education sessions for department staff, doctors, and nurses.
  2. Participating in department programs/committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetings.
  3. Participating in the orientation and training of new employees.
  4. Ensuring appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and procedures.
  5. Maintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars, or on-line education units.
  6. Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.

Facility specific Responsibilities of the role
SEHA Compliance guidelines
  1. Complying with Policies, Procedures and Practices of the SEHA facilities and other regulatory requirements.
  2. Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures, and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies.
  3. Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.

Maintaining Confidentiality

Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with facility policy.


Promoting Customer Service standards
  1. Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer-focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders.
  2. Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility.
  3. Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role.

Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance standards
  1. Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines.
  2. Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies.

Ensuring Personal Effectiveness
  1. Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position.
  2. Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies.
  3. Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care.
  4. Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training, and development of UAE nationals staff.

Required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters degree in Education psychology.
  • Bachelor degree in Psychology.
  • Current National License.
