Job Description:

• Fitting mechanical components in line with the guidance provided to the designated quality standard.
• Strip, modification, and rebuild of vehicle components including vehicle trim and glazing.
• Specific skills are required for different build stations, namely:
• Trim – full re-build of vehicle interior.
• Armouring – installation of armouring (including welding).
• Glazing – fitment of specialised glazing to OEM standard.
• Focus on continuous improvement - working with the Technician Supervisor to improve efficiency/quality during build.
• Ensure that build sheet discrepancies are fed back appropriately to material control and production control.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are fit for purpose, including calibration requirements.
• Be responsible for maintaining a working environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Work with manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles.
• Listening to clients to learn more about vehicle history, potential problems, and the services they would like to receive.
• Performing test drives, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.
• Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.
• Repairing damage to the body of the vehicle and washing and painting the vehicle’s exterior.
• Generating timelines and estimates for repairs and discussing options with clients.
• Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations.
• Maintaining accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts, and service history.
• Using shop equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.
• The post holder will undertake other duties as required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.
• Must be flexible to be cross-trained in other departments as needed.
