The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is an Arab financial institution based in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, aiming to lay the foundations for Arab economic integration and accelerate economic development in Arab countries.

The AMF seeks to provide financing to member states to confront challenges facing balance of payments, strengthen the public finance sector, and develop the financial and banking sector in Arab countries. The AMF also provides technical assistance and capacity building to help member states adopt appropriate economic policies.

The Studies and Statistics Division at the Arab Monetary Fund is responsible for spearheading the organization's research activities and managing statistical data to foster economic cooperation and enhance financial stability across the Arab region. This division prepares the annual research plan, produces key publications, and conducts in-depth studies on macroeconomic and monetary policies.

The Arab Monetary Fund would like to fill the position of Economist in the Economic Affairs department.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and develop flagship reports issued by the Arab Monetary Fund.
  • Conduct comprehensive, high-quality research studies on various economic issues relevant to the AMF's strategic objectives.
  • Provide in-depth and timely analysis of global and regional economic developments and policy implications.
  • Promote a culture of research innovation and explore innovative methodologies.
  • Contribute to training and capacity-building activities.
  • Participate in initiatives and technical work related to the AMF.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the department and beyond.
  • Carry out assigned technical and administrative tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.

Professional Qualifications and Required Experiences:

  • Must be a citizen of Arab countries.
  • Holds a doctorate or master’s degree in economics from an accredited university.
  • At least 7 years of experience in economics and finance, preferably in relevant institutions.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of econometrics, economic modeling, and statistical data analysis.
  • Familiarity with macroeconomic policies and their interaction mechanisms.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth economic analysis and develop policy recommendations.
  • Recent studies published in peer-reviewed journals in economics and finance.
  • Ability to train in areas related to the Fund’s work.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English; knowledge of French is a plus.
