An innovative payments business that uses technology to connect people and their resources, making it easier to do business across Africa, is looking for a Group Head of Product Marketing to join their team of trailblazers. A bit about the role:
As the company’s Group Head of Product Marketing, your primary task will be to define and refine the company’s Product growth plans as it refers to their customer acquisition, coordinating and executing campaign programs and optimising customer engagement, retention and conversion rates at key customer touch points. You are a senior-level manager with both strategic planning and implementation functions. The marketing communications role is an intersection of Strategy, Product Development and Marketing. This role is critical in executing marketing campaigns that support demand generation for the company’s products and increased product usage. This role works cross-functionally with design, engineering, analytics, product management, operations, and retail marketing to develop, design and execute product growth initiatives focusing on three core merchant products (Checkout, Pay-outs and Proximity) without ignoring other products like Bill Payments and their omnichannel.

Your daily adventures include:
- Define a results-driven product marketing playbook/strategy that guides and informs the company’s GTM approach for their different products.
- Establish a strong process for campaign, including determining spending and ROI periods.
- Define an approach to creating a localised campaign that supports the growth of products in the chosen markets.
- Define the Product Marketing team and scale it to a world-class organisation.
- Develop strategies that put their omnichannel brand and merchant products in front of the right target audience and ensure a high rate of trial and adoption.
- Continuously building brand awareness and generating innovative ideas to promote the brand/product, including but not limited to creating content strategies based on business objectives, category focus, and audience segments across all channels (online/offline).
- Designing and implementing tests to provide customer insights into the company’s products.
- Lead the market research and work with the product teams to apply relevant findings to the development process.
- Work across teams to execute product pilots (internal and external) to achieve an aligned MVP for market roll-out.
- Take ownership of the product’s go-to-market strategy.
- Ensure that all messaging regarding the product is accurate and presented in a way that potential customers will care about.
- Designing, planning, and executing effective marketing campaigns in line with the plan & determining and implementing metrics to measure campaign effectiveness.
- Oversee the creation of content about the product, including videos, blog posts, presentations etc.
- Implementing online marketing activities, including social media, SEO/SEM, demand generation, lead generation and activation.
- Tracking the effectiveness of various campaigns and course corrections as required.
What it takes to succeed:
- A degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of prior experience in a similar role - managing campaigns for multiple markets.
- 5+ years of direct work experience in a managerial role in marketing.
- Demonstrated experience in taking digital products to market and growing them.
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
- Have run offline and online campaigns that have attributable growth for the product.
- Solid experience in managing ATL (above the line) and BTL (below the line) activities.
- Has built teams that comprise media buyers, data analysts, digital engagement, copy editors, and technical marketers.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully using marketing stacks to automate marketing campaigns and create linkages to product growth, including but not limited to:
- Market research and analysis: Typeform, UserTesting, Segment, Amplitude, Useberry.
- Workflow and project management: Trello, Asana, Slack, InVision, ProductBoard, ProdPad.
- Content creation: Sketch, Wistia, Venngage, Canva, Copymatic.
- Marketing: MailChimp, HubSpot, Customer.io, Chameleon, Ahrefs, BuzzSumo.
