Job Description

  1. To provide a safe, secured, courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service at all times following Hotel Standards of Performance.
  2. To handle guest and employee inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found, and assure follow-up with guests.
  3. To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all hotel-related services and products, and have the ability to make recommendations to hotel guests.
  4. To be responsible for the quality of the pool water; verify water pH and chlorine levels a minimum of twice daily, record values, and report to the Fitness Manager if these levels are not as they should be.
  5. To assist in maintaining the pool in impeccable cleaning conditions by performing minor work such as removal of small floating objects.
  6. A mandatory presence near the pool. If the lifeguard needs to leave the work area, he/she should:
    1. Always ensure that the pool remains under the supervision of qualified and/or authorized personnel.
    2. Inform the Fitness Manager or Fitness Instructor.
  7. When on hotel grounds, always reflect a professional image including complete uniform as per hotel standard.
  8. All movements at the pools must be registered in a logbook.
  9. To provide swimming lessons if requested (subject to superior's approval).
  10. To reinforce pool rules at all times.
  11. To ensure that the hygienic condition of the pool is respected by everyone.
  12. To remain physically fit and refresh continuously life-saving techniques as per job requirements; perform specific exercises as per established scheduled training.
  13. To continuously maintain and service all equipment related or assigned to the department as specified in equipment manuals.
  14. To be aware of scheduled functions, group or VIP arrivals, and special events.
  15. To be flexible with work hours regardless of time during day or night to facilitate security arrangements of cases that require special treatment and handling.
  16. To project a positive and motivated attitude and exercise self-control at all times.
  17. To respond to any changes in the Fitness and Security Department function as dictated by the hotel.
  18. To handle all tasks with diplomacy, tact, appropriate discretion, and efficiency.
  19. To be fully conversant with every detail of first aid.
  20. To be familiar with the hotel's alarm system, emergency plans, and procedures for lost and found items.
  21. To comply with safety regulations and procedures and ensure that all team members of the hotel observe safety precautions and use safety equipment.
  22. Alerts the Fitness Manager / Chief Security Officer / Manager on Duty / Resident Manager / General Manager on any emergency at the pool.
  23. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  24. Follows all policies and procedures ascertained by the hotel.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a Lifeguard preferred.
  2. Certification in CPR and First Aid required.
  3. Certification as a Lifeguard required.
  4. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Highly responsible & reliable.
  6. Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  7. Ability to focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous at all times.
