Job Description

The Structural Engineer (Offshore Platforms) specializes in designing and maintaining the structural integrity of offshore oil and gas platforms. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe and reliable operation of these structures in challenging offshore environments. The Structural Engineer conducts structural analyses, designs foundations, and oversees construction and maintenance activities. They also monitor and assess the condition of existing platforms, identify potential risks, and implement remedial measures.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct structural analyses and calculations to assess the integrity of offshore platforms.
2. Design offshore platform structures, including decks, jackets, and piling systems.
3. Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to design and evaluate foundation systems.
4. Review and approve structural drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
5. Coordinate with project teams and contractors to ensure compliance with design requirements.
6. Oversee installation and construction activities, including load testing and inspections.
7. Monitor the condition of offshore platforms, identify potential risks, and develop maintenance plans.
8. Conduct structural inspections and assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
9. Analyze and evaluate structural failures or damages and recommend appropriate remedial measures.
10. Keep abreast of industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies in structural engineering.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field.
2. Previous experience in offshore structural engineering, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
3. Proficiency in structural analysis software and relevant codes and standards.
4. Knowledge of offshore construction techniques, including fabrication and installation.
5. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
