Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah. The Emerging Markets Business focuses on markets outside the Gulf region in areas where Atkins are not yet established including North Africa, Middle East and Eurasia.

Due to continued growth, our Emerging Markets Business is looking to recruit an Assistant / Project Manager to be based in Dubai to work on a number of projects in the Middle East, North Africa and Eurasia.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Must be Degree qualified Architect or Engineer
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in consultancy/construction firm
  3. Fluent knowledge of English – spoken and written
  4. Forming and managing relationships with clients, networking and promoting the Company
  5. Able to author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality with no rework required
  6. Able to manage the drafting of successful responses to bids within their area of expertise
  7. Able to check work of all those in the project team
  8. Able to realistically estimate pricing/timing associated with projects within their area of expertise
  9. Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team on them
  10. An effective team member able to apply knowledge gained
  11. Responsible for completion of projects to time, cost and quality
  12. Developing relationships with Atkins colleagues outside of business area
  13. Increasing knowledge of, and use of Atkins, capabilities outside of business units
  14. Flexible and enthusiastic and able to make sound judgements
  15. Building relationships with clients
  16. Able to discuss in detail with clients the local business (Divisional) technologies and markets

Managerial (Project and/or People) Role:

  1. Display strong team management skills.
  2. Understanding of People Management issues and can conduct staff development and appraisals and can demonstrate a prior track record
  3. Fully conversant with the commercial aspects of project management
  4. Proven project management skills having had responsibility for completion of projects to time and cost
  5. Good leadership qualities and gains respect from colleagues

  2. Project Directors
  3. Project Managers
  4. Delivery Team – Architects / Engineers / Sub-consultants / Cost Management Team
  5. Head of Departments
