Senior Piping Engineer

1. Piping Design and Engineering:

   • Lead the design, engineering, and layout of piping systems, ensuring they meet industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
   • Oversee the preparation of piping design drawings, isometric drawings, and piping material specifications (P&IDs).
   • Conduct stress analysis and simulations for piping systems to ensure they can withstand operational conditions and external factors.
   • Ensure the proper selection of materials for pipes, fittings, valves, and other components, considering factors such as pressure, temperature, and chemical compatibility.

2. Project Management and Coordination:

   • Manage and coordinate all aspects of piping projects from conceptual design through to installation and commissioning.
   • Define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables and ensure that projects are executed in accordance with schedules and budgets.
   • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, structural, electrical) to integrate piping systems with other systems within the facility or infrastructure.
   • Oversee the coordination of third-party contractors, suppliers, and vendors involved in piping procurement and installation.

3. Team Leadership and Mentoring:

   • Lead and mentor a team of piping engineers, designers, and draftsmen, ensuring that they are well-trained and working efficiently.
   • Provide guidance on technical issues, solving complex problems, and ensuring that the team adheres to project specifications and safety standards.
   • Conduct performance reviews and provide career development opportunities for team members.

4. Quality Control and Assurance:

   • Ensure that all piping designs and installations meet industry codes and standards, such as ASME, ASTM, and API, as well as client-specific requirements.
   • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and safety of piping systems.
   • Conduct inspections and supervise testing of piping systems during fabrication and installation to ensure compliance with design specifications.

5. Safety and Risk Management:

   • Ensure that piping systems are designed and installed with the highest level of safety in mind, in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
   • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards during the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
   • Implement measures to minimize risks and ensure the safety of personnel involved in piping construction, maintenance, and operation.

6. Procurement and Vendor Management:

   • Assist in the procurement process by reviewing and approving materials and components for piping systems.
   • Evaluate and select vendors, suppliers, and contractors based on their ability to meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
   • Monitor the delivery and quality of materials, ensuring that all components meet project specifications before they are used in construction.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain comprehensive records of all piping design and installation activities, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
   • Prepare progress reports for management and clients, outlining project milestones, potential delays, and other critical issues.
   • Review and approve technical documentation related to piping systems, ensuring it meets project requirements and quality standards.

8. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

   • Address and resolve any technical issues related to the design, fabrication, or installation of piping systems.
   • Work closely with the construction and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems that may arise during installation or post-installation phases.
   • Perform root cause analysis on piping failures or deficiencies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

9. Compliance with Standards and Regulations:

   • Ensure all piping systems comply with applicable local, national, and international codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3 for Process Piping, ASME B31.1 for Power Piping, and API standards for oil and gas piping.
   • Stay up to date with changes in industry regulations, codes, and standards to ensure that piping designs and installations comply with the latest requirements.

• JOB PURPOSE:
  

Provide technical expertise on all engineering subject matters about Piping Engineering during EXECUTE stage and within the project team including Layouts, Design, Stress, Supports, and Piping Materials. Coordinate and interface with other disciplines, Operations, and EPC Contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure quality Piping engineering design execution and integrity.
Provide technical support where required relating to Piping activities for the production facilities and Piping design at the Plant to ensure technical and operational safety, integrity, constructability and reliability of the assets and to minimize downtime of the facilities.

• QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Piping or Mechanical engineering
  

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• 12 years of experience, including at least 5 years’ experience at senior level with multi discipline exposure in Piping Systems/ Engineering in the oil refining or gas industry related EPC organisation.
