THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Senior Manager of Marketing brings at least 8 years of marketing experience to lead and devise SPE's global and regional marketing strategies with complete responsibility for its implementation, delivery, and execution across all online and offline channels in support of SPE's products and services, including events, member programs, technical activities, and publishing.

In this role, our Senior Manager leads and manages a geographically dispersed team across multiple time zones and must have experience managing and coaching other managers of high-performing teams.

This position is accountable for delivering budgeted delegate and visitor numbers to events, supporting event sales targets, sustaining and growing membership numbers, nurturing new leads, and helping grow revenue from publishing and multimedia products globally.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE IN THIS ROLE

The Senior Manager of Marketing has 5 direct reports and 11 indirect reports across five offices, Houston, Dallas, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur as well as temporary employees/contractors globally.

Additional supervisory responsibilities include defining projects and guiding staff to manage projects efficiently.

  • Support SPE's global brand strategy. Ensure web, creative, and public relations have consistent branding and messaging.
  • Develop an integrated marketing strategy globally for new and existing products including:
  • Events - including conferences and exhibitions, workshops, forums, symposia, training courses, and webinars. Supervise SPE's global tradeshow program, exhibiting at SPE and non-SPE events.
  • Membership new member acquisition, member retention, and member engagement programs.
  • Digital publications, multimedia programs, and other online resources.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance marketing assets including websites, social media, and printed collateral.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of PR, advertising, and other appropriate traditional channels including third-party partnerships with commercial, governmental, and other organisations that engage prospects and customers, drive inbound traffic/leads, and maximise conversions on SPE's events.
  • Monitor, measure, and improve the effectiveness of all online and offline activities.
  • Set and then monitor and control SPE's products and services marketing budgets and ROI.
Your Skills And Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field. Minimum of eight years relevant marketing experience. Knowledge of the E&P oil and gas industry and/or membership organizations is ideal.
  • Track record of leading, managing, and motivating geographically dispersed teams across multiple time zones and guiding its day-to-day activities to ensure marketing objectives are met.
  • Clear understanding of team structures and key skills required for an effective marketing team focused on digital channels.
  • Advanced knowledge of events and membership and how to market them.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of email marketing, direct mail, and web metrics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with digital marketing including automation, content marketing, community engagement, data analytics, email marketing, social media, UX, and SEO.
  • Extensive experience with traditional channels including direct mail, PR, and advertising.
  • Strong understanding of commercially available CRM and CMS software as well as Google Analytics and tools for planning social media.
  • Familiarity with special terminology related to marketing, finance, events, publishing, and digital technology.
  • Excellent oral, written, organisational, presentational, and independent workload management skills.
Additional Attributes For Success In This Role

  • Ability to manage projects from concept to production, including overseeing schedules and budgets.
  • Has a good eye for creative; advanced skills in working with creative staff and contractors in producing materials that effectively communicate project goals and reinforce SPE brands.
  • Excellent at managing priorities to ensure on-time delivery of multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience with international marketing and cultural considerations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally, both single-day and multi-day overnight stays, possibly ranging up to 25%.
