Salary and benefits:
Salary of 16,000-21,000 AED per month (US$4300-5700 per month), tax-free.
Flight at the beginning and end of a two-year renewable contract for teachers.
Health insurance (UAE wide) for teachers.
Note: the salary is "all in" meaning no separate housing allowance is offered and school fees are the responsibility of the teacher.
Teachers will find out their exact location upon arrival and must be willing to be placed anywhere in the UAE.
School description:
State schools across the 7 Emirates of the UAE, though 80% of teachers are placed in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Curriculum: UAE national curriculum (it is closely related to the American curriculum).
Language of Instruction for subjects taught by foreign teachers: English.
School week: Monday - Thursday with a half day on Friday.
School year: Starts in August and lasts 186-188 days.
Start dates for teachers: There is a rolling intake throughout the year, with an emphasis on January and August starters.
Requirements:
Kindergarten teachers need a Bachelors of Early Childhood Education or degree in English, Math, Science or Computers + PGCE for EY or Primary.
Teacher training such as a B’Ed, PGCE, QTS, SACE or US Teacher certification is required for Kindergarten and Primary positions.
2 years of recent relevant classroom teaching experience using the medium of English at the time of application.
Current teaching license/state certification/state teacher registration.
Ability to teach English language learners.
Clear criminal record.
Ability to provide the required documentation during the process.
IELTS score of over 6.5 (needed at application) if not a holder of a passport from a country where English is not the official national language.
