3.1 Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets Joint Commission standards.
3.2 Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of difficult and special cases.
3.3 Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that Joint Commission standards are met.
3.4 Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
3.5 Participates in weekly rounds and peer reviews.
3.6 Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs, integrating the curative and preventive aspects of total patient care.
3.7 Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as they relate to Ophthalmology.
3.8 Participates in QA programs as requested by the Medical Administrator.
3.9 Orients new staff when requested to do so.
3.10 Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.
3.11 Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
3.12 Participates on committees as requested by the Medical Administrator.
3.13 Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
3.14 Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
3.15 Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperates with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
3.16 Works in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions.
Desired Candidate Profile
3.17 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
3.18 Notify OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assist with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
3.19 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
3.20 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
3.21 Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Qualifications
4.1 Graduation from an approved medical school plus internship.
4.2 Three years residency in Ophthalmology culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Master’s degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD.
4.3 Three or more years of exclusive practice of ophthalmology since certification.
4.4 Must have HAAD License to practice.
4.5 English is required to prepare documentation and is used as the common language to communicate with different nationalities. Basic knowledge of medical Arabic is desirable.
4.6 Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics.
