The ER Specialist will provide critical emergency medical care in a fast-paced environment in a government facility, ensuring timely, accurate, and quality care for patients presenting with acute medical and traumatic conditions. The specialist must hold a valid Department of Health (DOH) license to practice in Abu Dhabi and will be a key member of the multidisciplinary emergency care team.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Patient Care:
Perform initial assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostics for patients presenting with emergency conditions.
Provide life-saving interventions and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
Manage trauma, resuscitation, cardiac, and other life-threatening emergencies.
Perform minor surgical procedures and emergency medical interventions such as airway management, intubations, and fracture management.
Clinical Management:
Coordinate with the emergency department team, including nurses, radiologists, and other medical specialists, to ensure efficient patient flow and timely care.
Prioritize cases based on acuity and ensure appropriate management and disposition of patients.
Provide clear instructions and communicate treatment plans effectively to patients and their families.
Regulatory and Compliance:
Adhere to all DOH regulatory requirements, hospital protocols, and ethical medical practices.
Ensure that patient records and documentation meet legal and hospital standards, including diagnostic reports, prescriptions, and follow-up plans.
Training and Supervision:
Supervise junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff, providing mentorship and on-the-job training.
Lead or participate in emergency response drills and continuing medical education sessions to keep up-to-date with the latest emergency medical advancements.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research projects related to emergency medicine.
Contribute to the development and implementation of department policies and procedures to enhance patient care and department efficiency.
Requirements:
Education: Medical degree from an accredited institution.
Certification: Board-certified in Emergency Medicine or equivalent recognized by the DOH.
Licensure: Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) license to practice as an ER Specialist in the UAE.
Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience in emergency medicine.
Skills:
Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Proficiency in advanced life support (ALS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma management.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Languages: Fluency in English is required; Arabic proficiency is preferred
