Summary:
The Water Quality Scientist in the science and pharmaceutical industry is responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality of water resources, analyzing samples, conducting experiments, and providing recommendations to ensure the safety and compliance of water systems. They play a crucial role in safeguarding public health and protecting the environment by evaluating water quality parameters and implementing effective water management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collect water samples from various sources, such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and treatment plants, following established sampling protocols.
  2. Perform laboratory analysis on water samples to determine physical, chemical, and biological parameters, including pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, nutrient levels, and microbial contaminants.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers, chromatographs, and microbiological testing instruments.
  4. Analyze and interpret data from water quality tests, identify trends or anomalies, and prepare reports documenting the findings.
  5. Assess compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines for water quality, such as those set by environmental agencies or health organizations.
  6. Conduct research and develop new methodologies for water quality analysis and monitoring.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including environmental engineers, hydrologists, and regulatory experts, to develop and implement water management strategies.
  8. Provide technical expertise and advice on water treatment processes, pollution control measures, and remediation strategies.
  9. Stay updated with advancements in water quality monitoring techniques, regulations, and best practices.
  10. Participate in field surveys and investigations to assess the impact of human activities on water resources and suggest mitigation measures.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  2. Strong knowledge of water quality parameters, testing methodologies, and regulatory standards.
  3. Experience in water quality analysis, including proficiency in using laboratory equipment and techniques.
  4. Familiarity with environmental regulations and guidelines related to water quality, such as those set by the EPA or WHO.
  5. Proficient in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software and tools.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports and effectively communicate findings.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample collection, analysis, and record-keeping.
  9. Knowledge of water treatment processes, pollution control measures, and water management strategies.
  10. Understanding of environmental impact assessment and mitigation techniques.
  11. Familiarity with GIS software and spatial analysis for water resource management.
