Roles and Responsibilities

• Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
• Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures, etc.
• Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by using sandpaper, removing old paint, performing minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and ensuring thorough cleanup.
• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g., plaster).
• Mix and match paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture.
• Paint, apply varnish, and other finishes on various surfaces.
• Order appropriate materials from the store.
• Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions.
• Carry out maintenance of equipment.
• Order and replace the correct spares of equipment as needed.
• Perform scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works in hotel rooms and/or public areas as required (e.g., inspections, upholstery, touch-up painting, replacing light fixtures, repairing, grouting, etc.).
• Maintain, repair, and clean all guest rooms in accordance with property PPM procedures and standard guidelines.
• Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven experience as a painter.
• Excellent knowledge of painting materials and how to select, mix, and apply them.
• Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques.
• Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns, etc.).
• Good basic math skills.
• Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders, etc.
• Conscientious with great attention to detail.
• High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Knowledge of Paints and Coatings: Familiarity with different types of paints, coatings, primers, and finishes used in engineering and industrial applications.
• Surface Preparation: Skills in preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, priming, and smoothing various materials to ensure good adhesion of the coating.
• Spray Painting Techniques: Expertise in using spray painting equipment to apply coatings evenly.
• Knowledge of Safety Standards and Practices: A strong understanding of safety protocols to avoid exposure to hazardous materials.
• Attention to Detail: The ability to apply coatings with precision, ensuring even coverage and smooth finishes.
