Key Accountabilities:
Ensure that the equipment/gear in use are validated and with current color coding.
Proactive coordination with the requestor for all rigging needs.
Liaise with other discipline foremen/supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
Distribute the riggers according to their experience and monitor their performance.
Attend training related to your task as required by the department.
Prepare turnover for the next shift including progress reports.
Proactive participation in identifying process errors and effective reporting through the NCIR system.
Work as a team leader responsible for On-the-Job Training and performance appraisals of other team members.
Coordinate with Supervisors, Sr. Foremen, Ship Repair Managers, and other trades supervisory staff as well as internally in the department with work preparation, fabrication, and material control.
Motivate the team for optimum performance, monitor their performance, and provide continuous appraisal of all subordinates.
Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices, and idleness.
Create daily progress reports and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor, including resource shortfalls, surplus, and HSEQ concerns.
Assist senior foreman and supervisors in planning rigging activities.
Ensure that workers are supplied with relevant machinery, tools, equipment, and materials, and that everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
Perform inspections to ensure that workers’ performance is up to the set standards.
Follow day-to-day operations related to your job to ensure continuity of work.
Education/Experience & Skills:
Industrial training Certificate or equivalent.
2 years trade apprentice course.
Familiarity with rigging activities with at least 3 years of experience in a Foreman or Lead position.
Familiar with lifting equipment and SWL (safe working load).
Able to perform simple lifting calculations.
Thorough knowledge of various types of steel works and steel structures erection/lifting procedures.
Knowledge and experience in ship repair and new building yard.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and other discipline-related project and engineering documentation.
