Position Overview

The Chief Accountant is responsible for leading the accounting department and managing all accounting operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls. The role involves working closely with senior management, providing financial insights, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring the company’s financial health.

Financial Recording and Reporting

1. Oversee the preparation of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
2. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
3. Prepare financial statements for management and stakeholders.

Month-end and Year-end Close Processes

1. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
2. Coordinate with various departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely completion of close activities.

Budgeting and Forecasting

1. Lead the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
2. Monitor budget performance, analyse variances, and recommend cost control and efficiency improvements.
3. Collaborate with Department Heads to review and adjust the budget as needed.

Internal Controls and Compliance

1. Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
2. Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.

Ad-hoc Projects and Analysis

Participate in special projects as requested by management.

Communication and Collaboration

Collaborate with all other departments and Heads of Department to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives. Communicate financial information to stakeholders. Spoken English and Arabic preferred.
