Job Summary

Rock Petroleum is seeking a Commercial Shipping & Chartering Manager with proven experience in tanker chartering to oversee the company's shipping and chartering operations. This role involves managing tanker chartering, optimizing logistics, negotiating contracts, and analyzing market trends to ensure smooth operations and profitability.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in the crude oil and refined products tanker markets, along with the ability to manage key relationships and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Tanker Chartering Management: Handle all aspects of chartering tankers, including negotiating agreements, analyzing freight rates, and ensuring cost-effective vessel selection.
  2. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate chartering contracts, freight rates, and terms with shipowners and brokers to maximize profitability and mitigate risks.
  3. Market Knowledge: Stay updated on market trends in the crude oil, refined products, and chemical tanker sectors to provide strategic insights and opportunities.
  4. Logistics Optimization: Coordinate shipping schedules and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  5. Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, brokers, and other industry stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
  7. Performance Monitoring: Track shipping KPIs and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in tanker chartering (crude oil, refined products, or chemical tankers).
  3. Strong understanding of international tanker markets and chartering agreements.
  4. Experience working in Middle Eastern and Asian shipping markets is highly desirable.
  5. Proven negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills in the chartering domain.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Must currently reside in Dubai (mandatory).
