Workshop Technician (Landing Gear) - Airframe and NDT Workshop

Job Purpose

The Workshop Technician will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and calibration tasks on aircraft components, tools, and equipment in accordance with company procedures and regulations. The job holder works as part of a team under the direction and guidance of the assigned supervisor/Engineer within the appropriate trade/cross trade disciplines for which they have been trained.

Generic

• Carry out routine component/tools servicing and calibration/maintenance/modification and approved repairs compliant to manufacturers' procedures whilst observing all safety procedures.
• Complete any component/tools maintenance and other tasks as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Engineers, including understanding Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts catalogue (IPC), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), standard Practice Manual (SPM), and Quality Manual ISO/IEC 17025.
• Assist supervisor/Engineers in troubleshooting, defect rectifications, and carrying out modifications while performing instructions contained in the job card.
• Ensure all work locations are kept clean and maintain excellent housekeeping. Participate and promote in creating a safety culture to minimize accidents and highlight any deficiencies/failures that can lead to such accidents.
• Ensure prompt attendance to all allocated tasks with the intent to reduce TAT and avoid operational delays/disruptions. Communicate any aircraft/component/structural defects found to the supervisor/Engineer/Manager expediently.
• Able to perform testing, verifications, servicing to monitor, assist, and support all Overhaul/Repair/Refurbishment/Inspection & Calibration tasks required as per special procedures and manuals used in the respective workshop.
• Form part of RRU (Rapid Response Unit)/AOG team in the event of aircraft incidents and recoveries.

GSE Specific

• Be capable of building scaffolding structures and understanding regulatory and safety codes associated with this task.

Landing Gear Workshop Specific

• Understand the function and operation of aircraft Landing Gear components.
• Ability to perform repair as per SPM/CMM and be familiar with the landing gear overhaul process.
• Experience in handling motorized equipment like Lifters and overhead cranes for Landing Gear components.
• Familiar with the standard and special tooling and equipment required for the Landing Gear overhaul.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role you need to meet the below requirements:

• 5+ Years in the Aviation field.
• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Engineering in Aeronautical subjects/Mechanical/Avionics/Electronic/Tech Engineering OR Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence OR Engineering Apprenticeship.
• Working knowledge of special procedures used in Wheel & Brake shop like Plastic media Blasting, Shot peening, paint touch-up.
• Should be able to handle motorized equipment like Lifters and overhead cranes on the shop floor.
• Fully conversant with Air Legislation and legal matters that relate to the operation and maintenance of aircraft to international standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, understand symbols, flags, and general notes to identify part location.
• Basic knowledge in CAD/CAM such as Autocad, Mastercam.
• Hands-on experience in operating CNC Milling machines.
• Knowledge in geometric dimensioning, tolerance, limits, fits & clearances.
• Hands-on experience in operating Conventional machines such as Lathe, milling & drilling machines.
