Performs skilled preventive maintenance tasks on medical equipment connected to patients or used to diagnose disease.
The equipment handled includes:
Defibrillators
Cardiac Monitors
Infant Care Centers
Incubators
Infusion Pumps
Audiometers
Electrosurgical Units
Microscopes
Spirometers
Dental Anesthesia Units
Work is performed on equipment throughout medical facilities, including Dental and district clinics. Subject to scheduled OnCall for medical equipment emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts preventive maintenance checks and inspections by observation and application of tests and instruments.
Advises and assists in the application of instrumentation in clinical environments.
Evaluates the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.
Performs maintenance and repair tasks including disassembly, reassembly, and test operation.
Prepares requisitions for spare parts procurement from stores/manufacturer.
Analyzes equipment for failures, faults, or malfunctions based on experience and skill, application of test instruments, and reference to technical literature or drawings.
Prepares and enters data in logs, reports, forms, and equipment records about inspections, repairs, and equipment condition and operation.
Minimum Requirements
Degree in BioMedical Engineering
Careful measurement and analysis skills
Attentive to details
Excellent verbal communication with patients, medical staff, and other engineers.
3 to 5 years experience in a hospital setup.
Excellent command of oral and written English to read and understand technical literature and schematics. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not essential.
