Roles and Responsibilities

Job Description: Electrical Engineer (Petrochemicals)

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer for a chemical manufacturing company with experience in the petrochemical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within our facilities, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design & detailed engineering of electrical work scope for petrochemical industries, including the generation of instrument lists, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable lists, etc.
  2. Prepare specifications and datasheets in accordance with project requirements to ensure technical and regulatory compliances are met.
  3. Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation equipment vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications. Selection of electrical equipment types, cable sizes and protection type, and review drawings, calculations, design reports, etc. by vendors. Should be well versed in preparing BOQ.
  4. Review technical quotes, recommend the selection of suitable electrical equipment and instrumentation, cables, and other system components based on process/project requirements to assist procurement/commercial team.
  5. Take part in inter-discipline coordination work between engineers from other disciplines to ensure quality and interfacing of electrical part in larger package supplies.
  6. Conduct inspection for panels, instruments and electrical equipment, cabling system installations on skids, interface connections, witness FAT/SAT, supervise installation and power turn-on at site.
  7. Ensure that all MCCs, VFDs and rotary equipment are operating reliably and efficiently to support smooth production.
  8. Analyzing and troubleshooting PLC and SCADA systems to ensure proper operation and performance.
  9. Ensure that all standard operating procedures comply with specifications, quality standards, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  10. Thorough experience in troubleshooting electrical faults related to manufacturing plants, related rotary equipment, utilities and buildings, and fixing it with less supervision.
  11. Any other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Recognized Degree/Advanced Diploma / Diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least 6 to 8 years’ work experience in production companies.
  2. Preferably working experience in electrical design and detailed engineering at petrochemical production units.
  3. Understanding of requirements for electrical systems in marine class society rules and knowledge of other international codes and standards such as IEC, ATEX, etc.
  4. Preparation of documents such as instrument lists, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable lists, etc.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Recognized Degree/Advanced Diploma / Diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least 6 to 8 years’ work experience in production companies.
  2. Preferably working experience in electrical design and detailed engineering at petrochemical production units.
  3. Understanding of requirements for electrical systems in marine class society rules and knowledge of other international codes and standards such as IEC, ATEX, etc.
  4. Preparation of documents such as instrument lists, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable lists, etc.
  5. Knowledge in process instrumentation, power distribution & protection for explosive atmosphere environments.
  6. Sourcing of, and interaction with vendors of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  7. Working knowledge in MS Office suite, AutoCAD, and related industrial software applications.
  8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  9. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.
  2. Knowledge of safety management systems and best practices in petrochemicals.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

Work Environment:

Office and fieldwork at petrochemical plants. Adherence to safety protocols and procedures is mandatory.
