Pattern Maker

Performs a wide range of foundry pattern making tasks to support the accomplishment of the manufacturing and maintenance mission of AL TAIF TECHNICAL SERVICES LLC with particular emphasis on pattern development, pattern making, core development and design for ferrous and non-ferrous casting. Develops patterns and moulds based on conceptual drawings for further functional evaluation and testing with the main of eventual manufacture as standard production items. Recommends alternative pattern design methodology when design characteristics cannot be achieved by the current proposed casting process. Ensures the process is maintained within the latest ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards. Learns, understands and complies with applicable health, safety and environment directives. Participates in the development of a safe and healthy working environment. Ensures compliance with all company policies, manuals, procedures and work instructions.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Setup and operate/run a wide variety of foundry pattern making and sand casting equipment in order to accomplish the manufacturing and maintenance mission.
2. Create the patterns for casting with wood, metal or other material as per the requirements.
3. Perform basic sand control tests using different sand control and testing equipment to ensure compliance to the existing industry standards of sand moulding and casting processes.
4. Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams and schematics in order to accomplish the desired cast product form and material composition in accordance with part specifications.
5. Verify the conformance of finished machining using conventional or digital precision measuring instruments.
6. Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives.
7. Maintain all equipment by undertaking all user preventive maintenance requirements.
8. Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured.
9. Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
10. Support other members of the Fabrication Workshop in fulfilling their roles.
11. Perform other duties as required by their line manager and the Manager, Fabrication.

Minimum Requirements

1. A high school diploma is required; a college diploma or pattern making/foundry techniques certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of one year of experience as a foundry technician performing various tasks is required; experience with sand preparation, moulding processes, charging, melting and pouring of ferrous and non-ferrous metals is preferred.
3. Previous military or manufacturing industry experience is an advantage.
4. The ability to lift, carry and push items weighing over 20kg is required.
5. The ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings/schematics is required.
6. The ability to read and use conventional and digital precision measuring instruments and tools is required.
