Purpose of the role:
The Senior Retail Business Analyst drives efficiency and innovation in retail operations by analysing business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and defining clear requirements for solutions. They act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and strategies. The Senior Retail Business Analyst advocates and supports data-driven decision-making by providing actionable insights and creating dashboards and reports.
Expected outcome: Enhance operational performance, customer experience, and overall business value in the retail sector.
Brief Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in retail operations.
- Map out end-to-end processes such as supply chain management, inventory control, POS & Digital operations, and customer loyalty programs.
- Define business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
- Ensure alignment between IT and business by understanding the unique needs of retail operations, including omnichannel strategies, promotions, and seasonal variations.
- Contribute to Demand Management & Drive Technology Solutions for Retail Operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document, prioritize, and evaluate business needs.
- Develop business cases, functional specifications, and user stories to support demand approval.
- Prioritize demands based on business value, feasibility, and strategic alignment.
- Analyze the feasibility and impact of new demands on existing processes, systems, and resources.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear communication and priority alignment.
- Evaluate and implement retail-specific software (e.g., ERP systems, LS Retail, inventory/merchandising solutions).
- Support system integration and optimization for processes like store setup, promotions, POS, and supply chain management.
- Test, troubleshoot, and validate technology solutions to ensure they meet business requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from sales, customer behaviour, inventory, and other systems to recommend actionable strategies.
- Create dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with actionable insights, supporting informed decision-making.
- Strong understanding of grocery retail operations (Physical & Digital), including supply chain management, inventory optimization, pricing strategies, category management, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex business problems, identify root causes, and propose data-driven solutions.
- Proven ability to gather and document business requirements while managing cross-functional teams, including store managers, supply chain leaders, and IT teams.
Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Growth mindset, adaptability, innovative thinking, customer focus, teamwork, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
7 to 10 years of Business Analysis experience in Grocery Retail.
