Job Description
The AV Support Specialist is responsible for setting up, operating, and supporting equipment used for classrooms, exhibitions, conferences, and multimedia presentations at the United Arab Emirates University. The role requires a mature, highly skilled support person, who can efficiently and professionally deliver diverse audio-visual, videoconferencing, and educational AV Technology services to the UAEU community.
The position entails the following responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operational activities for UAEU smart classrooms and collaborative technologies in a multi-campus environment.
- Exemplify and promote Extreme Customer Service to users and co-workers.
- Maintain, set up, breakdown, store, and operate various audio-visual equipment for daily classes and events.
- Set up, operate, and install equipment including smart boards, microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, and recording equipment for events.
- Operate equipment during classes, rehearsals, live shows, conferences, and exhibitions.
- Confer with the manager to establish cues and directions, create and install custom lighting systems, and monitor sound feeds for quality.
- Diagnose and correct client-side media system problems, send equipment for repairs, and ensure proper cleaning and storage of audio and video equipment.
- Work with support teams from vendors and other business units on AV infrastructure design and usage.
- Follow established procedures to address room and equipment issues.
- Evaluate decisions through the eyes of the customer and build strong customer relationships.
- Conduct audits of equipment as part of the development of facilities and upgrade plans.
- Maintain the functionality of the equipment through proper cleaning and maintenance.
- Provide service updates and reports to senior management as required.
- Adhere to all information security policies and procedures of the University.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
Should have at least 2-3 years of experience in enterprise A/V Infrastructure, preferably in an academic institution. Relevant multimedia/AV technical training and ITIL Foundation certification are required.
Preferred Qualification
Knowledge of troubleshooting technical issues under AV infrastructure and familiarity with various audio-visual systems including sound, lights, recording, video conferencing, and control systems. The ability to operate portable equipment and knowledge of end-user computing infrastructure is essential. The candidate should possess a high energy level, flexibility, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Availability
Ability to work in shifts and a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays is essential. 24/7 availability on call basis.
