The Lead Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of all civil Engineering, Procurement, and Construction within the organization, and has a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects. Their responsibilities typically include:
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Lead and manage the Civil Engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of project milestones.
Develop project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
Coordinate with project managers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure integrated design solutions.
Design and Development:
Perform structural analysis and design for various structures such as buildings, steel structures, towers, retaining structures, foundations, tanks/reservoirs, and industrial facilities.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE).
Develop detailed engineering calculations and simulations.
Prepare and review civil materials technical reports, method statements, vendor technical clarifications, and technical bid evaluation reports.
Technical Expertise:
Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers and designers.
Allocate tasks and provide guidance to ensure effective and efficient project execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for structural engineering matters within the project team.
Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments.
Ability to independently execute detailed design drawings of civil site and structural systems of moderate complexity.
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
Ability to issue clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters.

Budget and Cost Control:
Monitor project budgets and control costs related to structural engineering activities.
Optimize design solutions to meet budget constraints without compromising quality and safety.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including specifications, reports, as-built drawings, and close-out reports.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of design documents.
Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all instrumentation and control activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team and across the project site.
Qualifications:
Post Graduate Degree (Civil/Structural related) in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of related design experience. UAE Equivalency Certificate for the degree is mandatory.
Advanced experience in the use of STAAD, ETAB, Mat 3D, SAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Ideal Statica, Tekla, and Revit, or similar software.
Work experience should emphasize civil site and structural design of heavy industrial type facilities.
Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, AISC, FHWA, MUTCD, OSHA, UBC, and WBDG UFC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
