HSE Officer - Zahr Freighters

Zahr Freighters is seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to join our team in Dubai. In this role you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all employees, contractors, and visitors by implementing and monitoring Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Implement and maintain all HSE documentation and procedures including the HSEMS system onsite.
2. Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures to ensure a safe work environment.
3. Initiate and organize HSE training and Toolbox Talks (TBTs) for pilots, employees, visitors, and contractors.
4. Perform safety walkabouts in the depot to prevent unsafe acts and conditions, reporting any anomalies.
5. Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents and propose corrective actions.
6. Inspect personnel activities to identify issues or nonconformities, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
7. Establish and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
8. Conduct spot checks on pilots to ensure adherence to SOPs.
9. Perform site safety visits to ensure the safe delivery of products to clients.
10. Participate in Emergency Response (ER) drills and act as an emergency responder during actual emergencies.
11. Verify that tools and equipment are safe and adequate for use.
12. Review the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
13. Approve safety plans submitted by subcontractors.
14. Coordinate the registration and disposal of hazardous waste via the Dubai Municipality portal.
15. Identify training needs for pilots and employees and communicate them to the HSE Manager.
16. Ensure proper traffic and asset management within the depot.
17. Conduct routine checks on fire systems, spill kits, and other safety equipment both in the depot and on trucks.
18. Inspect tools, ladders, and other safety-critical equipment regularly.
19. Perform random alcoblow checks on pilots and report any issues.
20. Handle additional HSE-related tasks or projects as assigned by the HSE Manager.

Skills/Competencies Required:

1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE-related role with a focus on site health and safety duties.
2. Proficiency in HSEMS documentation and compliance assessments.
3. Knowledge of site operation health and safety, fire safety, and first aid.
4. NEBOSH/IGC qualifications or equivalent certification in HSE management.
5. Experience in auditing and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
