Lab Engineer

The Lab/Research Engineer is expected to maintain and develop the Educational and Research Labs, assist students and researchers, welcome external researchers, perform experiments within the framework of research projects, and participate in the Research projects of the Department. The role will also include mentoring students and teaching Lab sessions in the Bachelor and/or Master’s in Physics. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with faculty members to promote the department’s activities on local, regional, and international levels, serve on committees, and participate in the life of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Physics and/or Engineering or a related area.
2. Proven records in Health and Safety Management.
3. 5 years of experience as a Lab engineer.

Job-Specific Skills:

1. Solid understanding of physical principles and their application to practical systems.
2. Good practical skills, and the ability to devise, set up, and run tests in the lab.
3. Curiosity, creativity, and a strong interest in scientific research.
4. Strong experimental and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of material science and nondestructive analysis.
5. Interest in multi-disciplinary topics and collaboration with other disciplines.
6. Experience in Material science and/or Cultural heritage analysis is an added advantage.
7. Python and/or MatLab knowledge.
8. Strong ability to work in a team.
9. Planning and organizing skills.
10. Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in both one-to-one and group situations.
11. Experience with multiphysics software (e.g. COMSOL) is beneficial.
12. Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs.
13. Languages: English is mandatory; French and Arabic are added advantages.
