Accountant

Overview:

The Accountant plays a vital role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records ensuring compliance with regulations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage a range of accounting functions, including providing financial information to assist the Senior Accountant in decision-making, ensuring accurate recordkeeping of transactions of an organization in the F&B and education industry, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the financial health and integrity of the organization.

Key Skills

  1. Technical Accounting Skills: Proficiency in accounting principles and financial regulations (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
  2. Expertise in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Excel for managing financial data.
  3. Familiarity with tax laws and regulations applicable to the industry.
  4. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Strong skills in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations.
  5. Ability to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
  6. Attention to Detail: High accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work to ensure data integrity.
  7. Ability to identify discrepancies and errors in financial data and reports.

Ethics and Integrity: Strong sense of professional ethics and responsibility, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with financial laws.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  2. Record all transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
  3. Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  4. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage the accounts payable process (invoicing, payments to vendors).
  5. Monitor accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of payments.
  6. Reconcile customer and vendor accounts.
  7. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
  8. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
  9. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the company’s budget.
  10. Tax Compliance: Prepare tax returns for review of Senior Accountant (e.g., VAT, corporate tax).
  11. Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with relevant financial laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  12. Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
  13. Audit & Internal Controls: Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is available and accurate.
  14. Adhere to the processes and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
  15. Coordinate with auditors and other third-party professionals as and when needed.
  16. Cash Flow Management: Assist in managing bank accounts, reconciliations statements and ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  17. Other Duties: Support the finance team with ad hoc projects or tasks as necessary.
  18. Stay up to date with accounting regulations and best practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CMA or Partly qualified CA/ CPA preferred).
  2. Experience: 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  3. Industry experience: F&B is a must.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP,) and Microsoft Excel.
  5. Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  6. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain financial matters clearly.
