British Applied College, Umm Al Quwain (BACU) is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff. We are seeking a qualified and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across our campus.Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with Ministry of Education (MoE) Compliance regulations and BACU policies.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring a safe campus environment.
Provide health and safety training and awareness sessions for staff, faculty, and students, promoting a culture of safety.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with Civil Defense, fire safety regulations, including the maintenance of fire equipment and conducting regular fire drills.
Collaborate with departments to ensure safety in classrooms, laboratories, and other high-risk areas.
Maintain records of safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident reports, preparing regular reports for management review.
Liaise with external regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to local health and safety laws and best practices.
Respond promptly to health and safety concerns raised by staff, faculty, and students, providing guidance and solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certification: A in health and safety.
Experience: Prior experience in health and safety, preferably within an educational institution is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of UAE health and safety regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct training sessions and promote a culture of safety.
Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
