Coordinate with subcontractors to get the price for various elements within the project.
Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.
Visit sites to gather information needed.
Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive prices for materials and equipment.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 8-10 years experience in a construction-related field (contractor, developer) or in a similar role.
Experience in the construction industry, preferably in commercial or residential projects.
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel).
A familiarity with typical project controls software such as Primavera scheduling software, Estimate/Schedule Transfer tools, Contract Manager, and DMCS (Document and Materials Control System) is preferred.
Membership in a relevant professional organization is a plus (e.g., RICS).
