Job description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Schedule user stories from the technical product backlog to the Sprint plan, focusing on regular and timely delivery of business value initiatives, and facilitating agile ceremonies, e.g. product backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies removing impediments/blockers to ensure optimal flow of value.
  • Guide the team on the use of Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight the business and how to elicit the most out of self-organization. Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team. Promotes empowerment of the team, ensuring that each team member is fully engaged in the initiatives and is making a meaningful contribution, and encourages a sustainable pace adhering to the agreed quality management plan with the team
  • Work collaboratively with the Technical Product Owners to refine, clarify and maintain the product backlog, together with the TPO schedules and commits stories into sprints and visualizes progress.
  • Support the Technical Product Owners in managing business expectations and transparency in both product backlog and schedule for all initiatives.
  • Define and manage a well-defined process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Delivery Management and effectively manage conflict resolution.
  • Ensure the Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done (DOD) is being followed, and make sure that each team member is fully engaged in the stories and making a meaningful contribution.
  • Encourage a sustainable pace adhering to the agreed quality management plan with the team. Maintains an agile project management tool (ScrumDesk, JIRA, etc.).

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a subject related to Computer Science or similar.
  • Certified Scrum Master with 3+ years of practical application of the Scrum Management discipline PMI ACP (transition of existing SDCs are exempt).
  • 5+ years of working in Information Technology in agile delivery within the context of a small/medium technology change program.
  • Well-versed in the use of tools of software delivery e.g. MS OFFICE suite, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate specialist information in an understandable format to all stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, focusing on core scrum values of openness, honesty, and respect.
  • Experience leading the teams.

  8. Metrics and Reporting: Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track team performance and project progress, using data to inform decisions.

  9. Coaching and Mentoring: Experience in coaching team members and stakeholders on Agile principles and practices to enhance their understanding and effectiveness.

  10. Continuous Improvement: Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and implementing process enhancements.
