Job Summary

Rock Petroleum is seeking skilled Operators to join our Trading Operations Team.

This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth trading activities, overseeing vessel operations, managing inventory, and maintaining compliance with financial and operational standards.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong analytical skills, and pays close attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Market Operations

  • Execute trades according to established strategies and trader instructions.
  • Monitor market conditions, including prices, volumes, and trends, and alert traders to significant developments.
  • Manage trade orders, including entry, modification, and cancellation, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Assist in monitoring and mitigating trading risks, including position limits and exposure management.
  • Coordinate trade settlements with counterparties and clearing houses, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  • Reconcile trading positions, cash flows, and settlements, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Shipping & Inventory Management

  • Oversee and coordinate vessel operations, including voyage planning, cargo specifications, and quality control.
  • Monitor vessel positions and planned operations to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Maintain and update daily inventory records for tanks and vessels, ensuring traceability and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance to address inventory discrepancies and provide transparent reporting.

Financial & Documentation Management

  • Validate invoices from service providers, ensuring accuracy before recording them in the database.
  • Maintain organized records of trading activities, including trade tickets, confirmations, and settlement instructions.
  • Systematically manage public folders and document deals to ensure easy access for colleagues and management.

Stakeholder Communication & Compliance

  • Act as a liaison between operations, trading, and finance teams, facilitating seamless communication.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the continuous enhancement of trading operations.

Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you should:
Hold a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrate a strong interest in financial markets and trading.
Prior experience in trading operations, shipping, or inventory management is preferred but not required.
