Alserkal utilises its collective expertise in arts initiatives and cultural production, heritage creation, community building and engagement, as well as urbanism and planning for creative industries, to guide public and private sector entities in developing sustainable and responsive business models.

Position Overview

The Junior Accountant works within the Finance function, focusing on daily operational finance tasks and supporting the Finance team in achieving timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Petty cash & Financial Operations support
    • Generate and distribute Credit Card Statements of Accounts (SOA) to cardholders.
    • Perform bank reconciliations and post adjustment entries as needed.
    • Conduct petty cash reconciliations for three entities.
    • Perform credit card reconciliations.
    • Post utilities expenses (DEWA, Etisalat, Siraj, Wifi) and handle associated payments.
  2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Post bank receipts and payments for supplier payments, DEWA receipts, and other transactions.
    • Attach supporting documents for payment processing.
    • Perform manual matching of transactions and prepare aging reports.
    • Reconcile accounts and address open POs by liaising with stakeholders.
  3. Invoice and Utility Management
    • Check DEWA meter readings, generate invoices, and upload them to the Community Portal Website.
    • Monitor utilities expenses and ensure accurate postings.
  4. Audit Support
    • Assist with external audits by providing schedules, documents, and other required supporting documentation efficiently and on time.
  5. General Ledger (GL) Accounting
    • Understand the impact of account activity on the balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) statements.
    • Complete weekly bank reconciliations and assist in month-end closing procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies.
    • Maintain an updated tracker for all month-end checklist tasks.
  6. Supplier and Documentation Management
    • Register new suppliers in the system.
    • Archive financial documents systematically to ensure easy retrieval.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL).

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (experience with SAGE preferred).

Other Skills:

  • Knowledge of IFRS standards and compliance requirements.

  • Driven to learn and grow.

Work Hours & Expectations

Position Type: Full-time.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Additional Requirements: Overtime and occasional Saturday work may be required during peak periods, special projects, or events.
