Roles and Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Expertise

  • Standards Implementation: Ensuring compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
  • Process Auditing: Conducting regular inspections and audits to maintain quality across operations.
  • Defect Analysis: Identifying and addressing product or service defects proactively.

Hygiene and Safety Knowledge

  • Health Regulations: Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., FDA, FSSAI) or workplace hygiene regulations.
  • Hygiene Monitoring: Overseeing sanitation practices to prevent contamination or safety hazards.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating hygiene-related risks.

Analytical Thinking

  • Data Analysis: Using metrics and analytics to identify trends or issues affecting quality or hygiene.
  • Problem-Solving: Developing actionable solutions for complex quality or hygiene challenges.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Policy Adherence: Ensuring operations comply with local and international quality and hygiene regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of audits, inspections, and compliance measures.

Team Leadership

  • Training and Development: Educating staff on quality and hygiene standards.
  • Supervision: Overseeing team performance to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to maintain standards.

Communication Skills

  • Reporting: Preparing detailed reports on quality assessments, hygiene audits, and improvement plans.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Communicating quality and hygiene standards to suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Process Optimization: Identifying areas for improvement in quality control and hygiene practices.
  • Innovation: Implementing new technologies or methods to enhance quality and hygiene.

Desired Candidate Profile

The Associate Manager - Quality and Hygiene is responsible for supporting activities to ensure the highest quality of hygiene and food safety in all areas of operations within the store.

  • Support the analysis of quality and food safety standards and implement continuous improvements.
  • Implement the internal quality and hygiene procedures.
  • Maintain all documents related to hygiene procedures to ensure quality.
  • Implement corrective activities put into place due to audit results.
  • Implement training for all food and waste handling staff.
  • Monitor and report on food storage compliance with the required health and safety standards.
  • Implement the hygiene and food safety awareness/climate in the stores to ensure the highest quality.
  • Development opportunities to improve leadership and technical skills pertaining to the direct line of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in related food quality control, 3+ years within the retail working with food is preferable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Process associated with the development and monitoring of products.
