Job Description: Lathe Machine Operator

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate and maintain lathe machines to perform tasks such as turning, boring, threading, and facing.
   
2. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine specifications and setup requirements.
   
3. Measure and inspect workpieces to ensure conformity to specifications using measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
   
4. Adjust machine settings for speed, feed, and depth of cut for optimal performance.
   
5. Ensure proper selection and installation of cutting tools and materials for each job.
   
6. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize machine downtime.
   
7. Monitor the machining process and make real-time adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
   
8. Follow strict safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
   
9. Document and report production logs, issues, and completed jobs to the supervisor.
   
10. Collaborate with other team members to meet production deadlines and resolve technical challenges.
    

Essential Qualifications:

1. Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
   
2. Proven experience of at least 2 years in operating lathe machines.
   
3. Familiarity with different types of lathes including manual and CNC machines.
   
4. Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
   

Skills Required:

1. Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
   
2. Knowledge of machining processes and tool setting.
   
3. Hands-on experience with measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
   
4. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting machine-related issues.
   
5. Attention to detail and precision in machining tasks.
   
6. Physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle prolonged hours of operation.
   
7. Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with other departments.
