Materials Engineer

Job Description

1. Responsible for obtaining approvals for materials submittal in all activities.
2. Responsible for preparing Asphalt mix designs of various types i.e. Base, Binder and wearing course, obtaining approvals from consultant engineers and ensuring the same to be produced from Asphalt plant.
3. Responsible for preparation of various concrete mix designs and conducting plant trials to ensure the quality of concrete mix.
4. Responsible for interaction with consultants and clients for day-to-day activities that take place at site regarding workmanship of the product quality standard maintained for the work.
5. Control of Non-Conforming products at site and inspection of all incoming materials to the site.
6. Ensuring maintenance of all Quality management documents and records, including plans, inspection, test records, and checklists.
7. Developing, modifying, testing, and evaluating materials.
8. Providing technical advice about the suitability of materials and diagnosing faults.
9. Advising on, planning, and organizing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
10. Overseeing operational quality control processes.
11. Liaising with suppliers, customers, and manufacturing/development staff.
12. Supervising technical staff.
13. Conducting and ensuring in-depth Fracture Analysis and Technical Reports.
14. Maintaining cycle time objectives within responsibility areas.
15. Addressing materials and process concerns from suppliers, manufacturing, and customers.
16. Offering material information and data to Engineering.
17. Updating material logs.
18. Testing at external sources.
19. Interpreting results, writing reports, and communicating with client representative engineers.
20. Analyzing product failure data and laboratory test results in order to determine causes of problems and develop solutions.
21. Conducting or supervising tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality.
22. Designing and directing the testing and/or control of processing procedures.
23. Determining appropriate methods for construction of works.
24. Monitoring material performance and evaluating material deterioration.
25. Planning and implementing laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material testing procedures that meet project specifications and performance standards.
26. Reviewing material submittals and making recommendations for material selection based on specification objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
