Procurement Engineer (Solar)
Job description
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential suppliers and vendors for solar energy equipment and materials, considering factors such as quality, cost, and delivery time.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities, track records, and certifications to ensure suitability for project requirements.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop procurement plans and strategies aligned with project timelines and budget constraints.
- Analyze project requirements and forecast material needs to optimize procurement processes and minimize project delays.
- Execute the procurement process, including requesting and reviewing quotations, negotiating prices and terms, and issuing purchase orders.
- Monitor and track the status of purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to manage inbound shipments and inventory levels effectively.
- Ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet specified quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits and inspections as necessary to verify compliance with contractual agreements and industry standards.
- Address any quality issues or discrepancies promptly and work with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the solar energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with solar energy equipment and materials, including PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical components.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
