We have an urgent requirement for Data Governance Specialist with our client based in Dubai

Job Description:

Strategic responsibilities

1. Contribute to the development of the organizational Data Strategy and support data management in line with strategic business objectives and Client cultures and values.
2. Responsible for the development and oversight of data governance framework, standards, practices, policies and processes in specific to the Modern Data Platform.
3. Anticipate challenges and risks associated with the management of data as a strategic asset and promotes action that produces optimal outcomes.

Core responsibilities

1. Develop a robust data governance framework tailored to the unique needs of a data lakehouse environment.
2. Define roles, responsibilities, and processes to manage data assets effectively.
3. Ensure Data Quality and Consistency.
4. Implement data quality standards and practices to maintain accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data.
5. Establish data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PDPL, LAW 45 etc).
6. Develop and enforce data access controls and privacy policies to safeguard data assets.
7. Manage metadata and data catalog processes to enable easy discovery and understanding of data assets by stakeholders.
8. Ensure data lineage and traceability to support transparency and trust in data usage.
9. Work closely with data users, IT teams, and business stakeholders to align data governance policies with organizational objectives.
10. Define and manage data integration processes to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability within the Lakehouse.
11. Implement data lifecycle management policies for data retention, archiving, and deletion.
12. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
13. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance data governance capabilities.
14. Responsible for the management and administration of data governance forums and related input/output.
15. Promote sharing and reuse of data assets across the organization.
16. Manage the development and ongoing maintenance of data definitions, standards, lineage and other data governance artifacts.

Specific Accountability

1. Responsible for development and operational aspects of the data governance framework related to Data Lakehouse and advising on strategic decisions in line with business priorities and international best practice.
2. Advise on strategic priorities of the Data Governance Office in order to support all business lines in meeting their strategic objectives.
3. Functions within the framework and boundaries of Group policies as well as overall organisational and governance frameworks.
4. Authorised to take decisions as per the approved authorisation matrix.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

1. 6+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role, preferably with experience in data Lakehouse environments.

Knowledge and Skills

1. Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
2. Experience with data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements.
3. Proficiency in data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage tools like Ataccama, Alation, Informatica.
4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
6. A reliable and trustworthy person, able to anticipate and deal with the varying needs and concerns of numerous stakeholders adapting personal style accordingly.
7. Adaptable and knowledgeable who can discuss a variety of data management situations with both IT and business stakeholders.
