Physical Therapy Assistant

A physical therapy assistant works alongside physical therapists to provide rehabilitation services to patients. They assist in implementing exercise programs, teaching patients how to use therapeutic equipment, and monitoring patients' progress. Physical therapy assistants may work in hospitals, clinics, or rehabilitation centers.

Responsibilities

1. Assist physical therapists in creating and implementing patient treatment plans.
2. Instruct and guide patients in therapeutic exercises and activities.
3. Use therapeutic equipment and modalities under the supervision of a physical therapist.
4. Monitor patients during therapy sessions and report any changes or concerns.
5. Help with patient transfers and positioning.
6. Record and document patient progress and treatment outcomes.
7. Educate patients and their families on proper techniques and strategies for recovery.
8. Maintain a clean and organized therapy area.

Minimum Requirements

1. Associate degree in physical therapy assisting or related field.
2. Successful completion of certification or licensure requirements.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physical therapy principles.
5. Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
