Aldar Education is seeking a Classroom Assistant for Al Ain British Academy in Al Ain commencing Immediately.

Al Ain Academy opened in September 2011 providing high quality education in the heritage Garden City of the United Arab Emirates. The children are taught the English National Curriculum tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, two swimming pools, well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium and outdoor play areas. It is an exciting, challenging and enjoyable school to work in where achievement for pupils is at the heart of all we do. The school has achieved outstanding levels of progress and attainment, supported by rigorous tracking of data and assessment in all areas of the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

Purpose:

Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SENCO/Class Teachers/Key Stage Leaders.

Key Duties:

  • Provide support for individual pupils/groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes.
  • Support pupils with additional support needs.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
  • Support class teachers with photocopying and other tasks.
  • Comply with health and safety and school policies.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  • Prepare materials and resources as required.
  • Promote independent learning and build pupils' motivation.
  • Work with other professionals as necessary.
  • Give group or individual instruction as prescribed by the teacher.
  • Monitor and check pupils' work while in progress.
  • Assist class teacher in monitoring pupils' tasks.
  • Praise and reinforce pupils' achievements.
  • Reorganise study materials at the end of the day.
  • Supervise pupils in various locations within the school.
  • Discipline misbehaviour in line with school policy.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: High School Certificate.

Minimum Experience: Two years experience in a similar role (desirable).
