We are seeking a Design Engineer for an Automotive Group where you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of automotive parts and accessories for top-tier automotive OEMs. This position offers the opportunity to ideate and conceptualize new product ideas, enhance the performance and aesthetics of existing products, and oversee the entire production process. You will collaborate closely with internal and external teams throughout all stages of development to deliver exceptional products. Other duties and responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
Product Development: Lead the design and development of vehicle components ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional standards.
Engineering Analysis: Perform in-depth engineering analyses including feasibility studies, design reviews, and risk assessments to identify optimization opportunities while keeping in mind part manufacturability, cost, and delivery times.
Material Selection and Integration: Work with cross-functional teams to choose and integrate materials that meet design and performance criteria. Explore sustainable materials to align with industry trends.
Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes for vehicle components and manage testing processes to ensure performance, durability, and safety. Use test data to refine and enhance designs.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements through close collaboration with Compliance/QA/QC teams. Develop comprehensive documentation including design specifications and test reports.
Multi-Level Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure smooth project execution. Facilitate meetings with technical suppliers and third-party vendors as needed to resolve problems, identify solutions, and ensure project delivery.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency within the engineering function. Apply best practices and lessons learned to improve project delivery.
Requirements
To be considered you need to meet the following requirements:
Education: Degree in automotive or mechanical engineering.
Experience: 3-5 years in product engineering with a strong focus on OEMs in the automotive industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as FUSION 360, Creo, PTC (Optional: NX, CATIA, or SOLIDWORKS).
Project Management: Demonstrated expertise in project management including planning, execution, and monitoring.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in engineering analysis tools and software.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of effective collaboration across functional teams.
